How does a cellular trail camera with sim card work?
Do Cellular Trail Cameras work without service or cellular network connection?
Cellular trail cameras do work like a non-cellular game camera. As soon as an object or animal movement is detected, a photo/video is taken. If there is no network coverage, the photo is still taken, but the transmission is not possible without coverage.
Our cameras come with a built-in premium SIM card that connects to any available network at no extra cost or roaming charges. This eliminates the problem you have with other setups, such as a second SIM card from your smartphone provider, which is limited to the connection quality of its own network at the remote camera location.
How much does a cellular trail camera cost per month?
The monthly cost of a cellular trail camera depends on the amount of photos taken and transmitted and the pricing model offered. The average consumption of an ICU CLOM network camera is about 11 images per day. This corresponds to approx. 4000 images per year.
With monthly subscription models, you have a monthly volume of pre-paid photos at a fixed price. The cost of the subscription is therefore your monthly cost. If your camera takes fewer photos, you still pay the monthly price for your subscription. If the monthly volume is exceeded, you will have to upgrade your subscription or no more photos will be sent.
In addition to the subscription models, there are also various pre-paid offers such as our COINs system. Here you top up your account with a selected amount of COINs or image credit and the cameras send images until the credit is used up. If no images are sent because your camera is not currently in use, the credit remains.

What do I get, when a cellular trail camera sends a photo or video?
As soon as the camera has triggered and processed the image in its area, the image and the location data from the camera sensors are transmitted to our server via a secure cellular connection.Within a few seconds, all users who have access to the camera receive the push notification and the image.
In addition to the camera name, the sensor data for moon phase, local temperature in Celsius/Fahrenheit, date and time, battery status and camera trigger mode are displayed at the bottom of the image.
If you have the extended "Premium" function plan, an AI-supported image analysis is carried out on the server and animals, people or objects such as cars are recognised.
