ICU supports national wildlife research centre in Kenya

In order to support international wildlife conservation and wildlife research, ICU, together with the AMES Foundation from Hamburg, handed over 10 sets of ICU CLOM cameras including power supply, free app access and data transfer to the WRTI - Wildlife Research & Training Institute of Kenya on 23 October 2024.

The equipment provided will be used to support programmes in the field of wildlife research and the protection of particularly endangered species. These include various rhino species and antelopes, such as the Hirola antelope, of which only a few individuals remain in the wild.

WRTI (Wildlife Research & Training Institute) is responsible for conducting the national wildlife census, data-based decision making and training and knowledge transfer in the field of international species conservation.

Through the provision of the ICU CLOM network setup, the national institute has been equipped with the latest technology in cellular land observation and wildlife monitoring and thus has the opportunity to gain valuable insights into behaviour as well as insights into various threat scenarios for endangered species in Kenya.
